Year 4 Motat trip

We went to Motat because our topic was ‘How New Zealand Changed from the Victorian times’. We were very excited. It was very cool because we got to go in the time machine. We also got to explore the mirror maze. I got stuck because there were many dead ends. But I got my way out with my friends. I liked the earthquake room, too. I almost fell down by my head! The reason was that it trembled very much when I pushed the earthquake button. Then, we went into the Victorian classroom. People were poor and paper cost a lot, so children had to use slate boards. Also, it was very hot in our Victorian clothes. I wish I could go to Motat again. By Alex, Room 8

In Term 2 this year, we were learning about Seasonal Changes. We have learnt many new words in our ESOL Class and were able to contribute to our classes’ discussions.  This term, we have been learning about changes of culture, and food packaging. We love our cool topics, and hope that by the end of the Term, we will have learnt lots more.  We go to ESOL class three times a week this term.  We also have reading sessions with Tracye Eriksen and Jennifer Chen, our Teachers’ Aides. They come to our classrooms, too and help us learn English better.

Information Report - Polar Bears - Year 6

There are not many polar bears in the world because of global warming. Polar bears have thick, oily waterproof coats and two layers of fur to keep them warm and dry. Under their skin, there is a thick layer of fat called blubber. They also have wide paws with bumps on the bottom so they will not slip on the ice. Polar bears have webbed toes to helpm them swim in the icy cold water. The ice is melting and they cannot catch seals to eat, so they get very hungry. Yeas ago they had three cups and now they only have one baby cub. Some of the Polar bears are drowning because they get too tired with swimming. They have two big eyes and big wide mouth to catch seals with Yum! So lets try and save the Polar bears!
